Following the success of her culinary travels around Morocco, Sophie is in Hong Kong for the second of Pixelle's travel doc series – April 2010.
Starting its airing on Tuesday 18th May at 9.00pm, the show sees TV chef Grigson take in the many flavours of the Far East, meeting new companions along the way and trying all kinds of lovely food and drink.
Hong Kong is a famous collision of ancient and modern, East and West, and this 8-part doc gives a friendly taster of just that. To help articulate the atmosphere musically, we had a lot of fun trying to think in broad, innocent, Chinese motifs, while creating a bit of a modern pallet of sounds to work from. Plus, of course, having to accommodate a few cultural curve-balls along the way.
We even found a way to use our favourite horn hero, John Herbison, in co-arranging an off-piste bit of fun for this brief – City of dreams. Plus, string supremo Pete Whitfield brings some essential class to the new arrangement of Sophie's cute sig tune.
We had great fun writing the music for this eight-part installment and working with director Ben Campbell and Pixelle Productions again – and exclusive audio cuts are now up on our Nuevo pages.
